The Courses

Strandhill Golf Club

Strandhill in County Sligo is one of Ireland’s quirkiest and most scenic 18-hole links courses. Located across the bay from the renowned County Sligo Golf Club at Rosses Point and nestled under the gaze of Knocknarea Mountain, Strandhill offers a unique golfing experience. The sea crashes in on two sides, with horses racing over the sand to the south and large waves creating a surfer’s paradise to the west.

Donegal Golf Club

Donegal Golf Club, founded in 1959, is located on the picturesque Murvagh Peninsula. In the early 1970s, some visionary members recognized the potential of this links land and hired Eddie Hackett, Ireland’s leading golf course designer at the time, to create an 18-hole course. The club is renowned for its isolated and breathtaking location, offering panoramic views across Donegal Bay with the Bluestack Mountains as a dramatic backdrop. Donegal is one of the toughest links courses around and should be on every golfer’s radar.

Enniscrone Golf Club

Enniscrone is one of the finest and most challenging traditional Irish links golf courses, offering 27 holes across 400 acres of magnificent links land. The par-73 Dunes Championship Links Course is particularly notable. From the first tee to the 18th green, Enniscrone Golf Club provides little respite, demanding precision to keep the ball in play. The signature hole, the par-5 16th, requires favoring the left side from the tee for a chance to reach the green in two. Otherwise, laying up will necessitate a precise pitch or chip-and-run shot to the elevated green for the third shot.

County Sligo Golf Club

The real beauty of County Sligo Golf Club lies in its ability to blend championship-level challenge with quirky elements across its undulating terrain. This is exemplified by the short 4th hole, which offers a truly wondrous and unique golfing experience.

Glasson Golf Club

One of Ireland's premier parkland golf courses, this course features the signature 15th hole with both the tee box and green set in the water, making it one of the most photographed holes in Irish golf. The first nine holes overlook Lough Ree, while the back nine border Killinure Bay. Former Ryder Cup player Christy O'Connor described it as "one of the most scenic pieces of land I've ever seen in my life" and said, "There is nothing I've seen that comes close."
